Families Invited to Attend the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll

Want to go to the White House Easter egg roll? Here’s how:

You can get free tickets by entering a lottery online. The lottery starts on Monday, February 26, and ends on Monday, March 4, at noon ET.

Winners will be picked randomly and notified by email on or after Monday, March 11.

This event is for kids aged 12 and under, and you can’t buy or sell tickets.

The White House Easter Egg Roll has been happening since the 1870s. It started when kids would roll eggs on Capitol Hill after Easter. But too many kids caused damage, so in 1876, Congress said they couldn’t play there.

Then, in 1878, President Rutherford B. Hayes said they could play on the White House grounds instead, starting the tradition we have today.

Each year, there’s a different theme, but there’s always fun stuff like games, stories, arts and crafts, and of course, the egg hunt.

The last two years, the event couldn’t happen because of COVID-19, but now it’s back!
