Pavin Smith, who’s only 21, did something really amazing for his parents. He paid for their whole house, so now they don’t have to worry about paying the mortgage anymore.
He was able to do this because he got picked seventh in the baseball draft and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks. This got him a big bonus of $5 million.
Instead of spending all that money right away, he decided to do something important first. He wanted to take away the stress of the mortgage payments from his parents.
Pavin knew that his mom, Pam, often worried about the mortgage. So, he decided to surprise them on Christmas Eve in 2017. He gave them a letter explaining his gift.
In the letter, he thanked them for raising him with love and making sacrifices for him. He wanted to make sure their family home belonged to them completely.
Luckily, the whole thing was caught on camera.
It’s really heartwarming to see acts of kindness like this from a grateful son.
Pavin’s baseball coach, Brian O’Connor, said that Pavin has always been mature beyond his years. This act didn’t surprise him because Pavin has always been brought up with good values.
