Be prepared with some tissues
A few years ago, a four-year-old boy named Gage had a tough time dealing with his emotions during his father’s wedding. His dad, a US Marine Corps sergeant named Joshua Newville, was marrying Senior Airman Emily Leehan in Ripley, New York.
Gage managed to keep it together until Emily started reading vows she had written specifically for him. That’s when he couldn’t hold back his emotions.
It was a special moment for Gage to stand by his father as he exchanged vows with Emily. Little did he know that Emily had prepared special vows just for him. When she started reading them, Gage couldn’t handle the emotions and started crying.
Emily began by saying, “I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest and to be a good person.” But before she could finish, Gage hugged her and couldn’t stop crying. The audience reacted with a collective ‘awwww’ as Emily tried to comfort him.
“Don’t cry, baby,” she said, understanding how emotional the moment was for Gage. She continued, “The last thing I hope you learn is that you are a special boy. You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman that I am today, and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”
Not surprisingly, both Emily and Joshua shed tears as they finished their vows. Gage, with his emotional reaction, stole the show at the wedding. The newlyweds, Emily and Joshua, had to return to duty immediately after the ceremony and couldn’t go on their honeymoon right away. Despite that, their wedding was memorable and a beautiful reminder of the power of love. We wish Joshua and Emily all the best in their life together.
