For several weeks, rapper and singer Rihanna’s lover A$AP Rocky (Rakim Myers) faced up to 24 years in prison . The trial ended yesterday.
A$AP’s former friend Relli (Terell Efron) filed a lawsuit and claimed that in 2021, Rakim pointed a gun at him and fired, after which the bullet grazed Terell’s arm. Myers denied the charges and refused a plea deal, considering himself innocent. Now the court has officially confirmed this, AP reports .
The jury deliberated for more than three hours before finding in Rakim’s favor. “Thank you for saving my life,” the musician told the jury as they left. “Mr. Myers, you are acquitted,” Judge Mark Arnold concluded.
Rihanna attended the sentencing along with her boyfriend’s mother and sister. After hearing the verdict, the women began to rejoice emotionally, hugging each other and Rakim’s lawyers. The rapper himself also threw himself into Rihanna’s arms, almost knocking over the furniture in the courtroom.
The couple left the courtroom hand in hand and with wide smiles on their faces.
On social media, the singer thanked God for what happened: “I am humbled by his mercy.”
