Hollywood star Angelina Jolie graced the 40th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where she received the “Modern Master” award, named after film critic Leonard Maltin. This prestigious award is given to actors who have enriched culture through outstanding achievements in the film industry.
The honor was bestowed upon Jolie for her portrayal of the late opera singer Maria Callas in the biographical film Maria, directed by Pablo Larraín. For the event, Angelina wore a milk-white slip dress with thin straps that flowed elegantly to the floor. The backless dress, with pockets on the flowing skirt, highlighted her slim figure and showcased her award-winning Oscar look. She chose to forgo a bra to complement the soft design.
Her outfit was accessorized with a beige trench coat and black suede stiletto heels with an open heel. Jolie kept her jewelry minimal, opting for simple earrings and a silver thumb ring. Her glamorous makeup featured a focus on her eyes and coral lipstick, while her hair cascaded freely over her shoulders.
While posing on the red carpet, Jolie turned around to show off her tattoos. The evening was filled with star power, with fellow celebrities like Katie Ireland, Ava DuVernay, and producer Jill Campbell in attendance. Leonard Maltin, for whom the award was named in 2015, also appeared at the ceremony.
As she received the award, Jolie became emotional when remembering her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand. Despite her French roots, Bertrand was unable to pursue a career in Hollywood, giving up her own dreams of becoming a creative artist but always supported her daughter’s rise to fame.
“I am so grateful to be part of this community. So many people live without self-expression. I think of my mother—she had to give up her dream of a creative life, but she embraced mine,” Jolie shared.
