A Hollywood star unexpectedly performed during the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs game at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) chose a white, voluminous wedding-style gown paired with an elegant matching hat. She performed âHold My Hand,â accompanying herself on the piano.
Her performance was dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack in New Orleans, which claimed 14 lives, as well as those affected by wildfires in Los Angeles, Hurricane Helen, and the plane crashes in Philadelphia and Washington. Gaga was joined by an orchestra and a choir.
Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and former New York Giants player Michael Strahan appeared in a video opening the broadcast, both wearing Los Angeles Fire Department and Nola Strong t-shirts. Strahan remarked, âThis year started with a terrorist attack that tried to break our spirit. But the resilience of New Orleans is as strong as the resolve of our nation.â Brady added, âWhen tragedy strikes, we donât break; we come together.â
Lady Gagaâs âHold My Handâ played during the finale of the 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick and was nominated for a Grammy and a Golden Globe. Fans were moved by her performance, sharing heartfelt comments on social media: âLady Gaga was magnificent! Such a beautiful and touching tribute to those lost in New Orleans,â âLady Gaga turns pain into strength. Who else got chills watching this?â and âIt was a powerful and beautiful performance.â
Her performance at Super Bowl LIX came just days after the release of her new single âAbracadabraâ and a week after she performed with Bruno Mars at the Grammy Awards. Before the Super Bowl, Gaga debuted her song âAll I Need Is Timeâ at the FireAid festival in Los Angeles. The optimistic track, co-written with her fiancĂ© Michael Polansky, was created specifically for the event. Lady Gaga is preparing to release her seventh studio album Mayhem.
Also spotted at the Super Bowl was Bradley Cooper, Gagaâs co-star from A Star Is Born, who attended with his 7-year-old daughter Lea, from his relationship with Russian supermodel Irina Shayk.
Taylor Swift was also in attendance, supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, her support wasnât enoughâthe Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 22-40. Other stars spotted in the stands included Zac Efron, Jay-Z with his daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi, Tom Brady, Kevin Costner, Kelly Sperry, Miles Teller, Adam Sandler, and more.
