“Remembering the Stars”: A Tribute to Those We Lost in 2024

During the 2024 SAG Awards, the Screen Actors Guild honored actors who passed away in the last year.

The tribute included stars like Matthew Perry, Tina Turner, Chita Rivera, Angus Cloud, Andre Braugher, Lance Reddick, Ron Cephas Jones, Christian Oliver, and more.

Naomi Watts started the segment with a touching message, remembering the actors we lost and their impact on the world.

“We’ve lost many amazing actors this past year. Their memory will stay with us through their work on screen,” Watts said.

The montage was accompanied by the song “How Do I Say Goodbye” by Dean Lewis. It featured actors like Suzanne Somers, Treat Williams, Alan Arkin, Carl Weathers, Tom Wilkinson, Harry Belafonte, Adan Canto, Billy Miller, and Tyler Christopher.

Matthew Perry passed away on Oct. 28 at 54 due to the effects of ketamine. His family expressed their sadness and gratitude for the love and support.

Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, died peacefully at 83 after a long illness. Tributes poured in from across the industry, remembering her as an inspiration.

Broadway icon Chita Rivera died at 91 after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter and siblings, leaving behind a legacy of theater excellence.

Angus Cloud, known for his role in Euphoria, passed away at home in Oakland at 21. His family shared their grief and emphasized the importance of mental health awareness.

Andre Braugher, known for roles in Homicide: Life on the Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, passed away at 61 after battling an illness. Colleagues honored his wisdom and friendship.
