Beyoncé has become the first dark-skinned woman to simultaneously top the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts since their inception in 1958. This has become a historic moment in the music world.
Beyoncé Makes History
Beyoncé’s song “Texas Hold’ Em” reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This achievement is highly significant as it is not easy for dark-skinned artists to succeed in country music. Therefore, the singer’s accomplishment is not only a musical triumph but also an important step in the fight for equality and the expansion of genre boundaries.
The song “Texas Hold’ Em,” along with the track “16 CARRIAGES,” was released on February 11th and came as a surprise to fans during the announcement of her new album at the 2024 Super Bowl.
The hit swiftly climbed to the top of the chart in just four days and quickly garnered over 3 million views on YouTube within a week.
Beyoncé also made history as the second solo artist to debut at number one on this chart, following Taylor Swift’s achievements with her songs “Love Story” and “All Too Well” in 2021.
