Get your tissues ready, folks. After more than forty years on TV, Pat Sajak announced he’s retiring from hosting Wheel of Fortune.
He surprised fans on June 12 with a tweet saying he’ll leave after the 2023-2024 season starting in the fall. Pat has been hosting Wheel of Fortune since 1981, so it’s a big deal.
In his tweet, he said, “I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Pat has been a part of the show for almost fifty years, so fans are sad to see him go. They shared their love and gratitude on social media.
Although Pat is retiring, he’ll still be involved with Wheel of Fortune behind the scenes. He’ll be a consultant for three years after he stops hosting.
Sony Pictures Television, which produces the show, thanked Pat for his forty years of hosting. They’re happy he’ll still be part of the Wheel of Fortune family.
Pat hinted at retiring in an interview in September 2022. He said, “We’re getting near the end. It’s been a long time. We’re not gonna do this for another 40 years. The end is near. It’s an honor to have been in people’s living rooms for that long. We’re happy and proud.”
We’ll miss you, Pat!
