Exploring the Beautiful Interior of Barbra Streisand’s Home, the Venue of Her Wedding

Barbra Streisand, a famous singer, actress, and filmmaker, has always liked nice homes. Her dream house is in Malibu.

She grew up in a small Brooklyn apartment, sharing a bed with her mom until she was 16 and didn’t even have her own room. But she always loved decorating.

Her interest in furniture started when she got her first couch after her mom remarried. Even with limited money, she decorated her place with thrift shop finds while pursuing her acting career.

As she became more successful, especially on Broadway, her taste in furniture changed to Art Nouveau and Tiffany lamps.

Barbra talks about her journey to her dream home in her book ‘My Passion for Design.’ Her Malibu property is on 3 acres and has four buildings, all showing her love for craftsmanship and old-world charm. It took her 11 years to buy it!

Her home is filled with carefully chosen art, furniture, and decorative items. Barbra is very organized in her collecting, exploring different styles and periods. Sometimes, she gives away things to people who will truly appreciate them.

In 1994, she auctioned her Art Deco collection at Christie’s in New York, showcasing her dedication to creating themed spaces. Her collection included Lalique glass, an ivory desk by Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, a painting by Tamara de Lempicka, and even Cartier clocks. Some of these items were displayed since the 1970s in a guesthouse on her property.

Her living space has carefully selected colors. Barbra pays attention to even small details like color-coordinated candy wrappers, flowers, and family photos in black and white. She likes rooms in one color and black-and-white movies, as she told Architectural Digest.

Barbra also keeps her fashion simple, usually wearing one color and avoiding prints. She is known for experimenting with prints in specific rooms, like her “Art Deco Matisse room.”
