Sharing your passion with your child is an amazing feeling. Even when Indy was a tiny baby, she used to join her parents, Rory and Joey Feek, on stage during their shows. Even after Joey passed away from cancer when Indy was just two, Rory kept performing, and Indy continued to be on stage with him.

Recently, Indy expressed her wish to perform with her father. Rory quickly thought of a song he loved for many years, one he had taught his oldest daughter, Heidi, when she was Indy’s age. The song is “Daddy What If” by Shel Silverstein. Rory changed the lyrics from “Daddy” to “Papa” because that’s what Indy calls him. He wrote out the lyrics and drew pictures next to the parts Indy would sing. Indy practiced whenever she could.
By Christmas, she joined Rory on stage to sing the song in front of a room full of people. It was a special moment for both of them and for the surprised audience.

Afterward, Rory had an idea. What if they recorded the song in a studio? What if they made their own video? For Father’s Day, Rory released the special song they recorded together.
Rory thinks about his own father, Joey’s father Jack, and his older daughters, Heidi and Hopie. He appreciates the gift of being a father to them and to Indiana. He also thinks of Joey and how she would have loved to see this moment, watching their little one sing with her Papa and growing into a beautiful young lady.
Their duet was very sweet and touching. Hopefully, we’ll get to see Rory and Indy sing together again.
